 Where are you located?
        We serve the Richmond, VA market. Our store is located in The Village at Waterford in Midlothian. The store is accessible to all areas of Richmond via 288 and The Powhite Parkway. 

Do you still travel to stage parties?
     Yes, some parties still travel to homes and clubs. When possible, we prefer to stage parties in our location because the décor complements the parties. Once you see our store, we think you’ll agree. 

Do you travel beyond the Richmond area?
       In rare cases. Parties staged outside the Richmond area will incur an additional travel fee. 

Do you offer different kinds of parties? 
    Yes.  The Fairy Godmother stages themed parties for mermaids, princesses, fairies and more in our largest party room, which accommodates up to 30 children. We also offer Tea Parties with Miss Hattie and the fairies in our smaller party room, which accommodates up to 16 children.  Fairy Picnics take place in a semi-private area in the rear of our store, beneath a canopy of willows.  Fairy Picnics can be upgraded to become birthday parties. 
 
What is the lowest price I will pay for one of your parties?
     Our Fairy Picnics offer a great value for a small group of 6-10 children. Because there is no minimum, you pay only for guests who actually attend the party. The cost is $24.99 per child.  There is an additional fee of $50 to turn a Fairy Picnic into a birthday party. The additional fee covers the cost of your private party room, costumed director,  invitations, cards, cupcakes, cookies, and a fun visit to Miss Hattie’s cottage at the end of the picnic.  With this option, you control the cost of the party.  For example, it’s possible to have a fantastic party for four little girls for as little as $150.  

        A $300 minimum applies for all parties in Miss Hattie’s Tea Room, featuring Miss Hattie and her Flower Fairy Friends. This amount covers any number of children up to 12. Additional children cost  $25 each. Miss Hattie’s Tea Room nicely accommodates up to 12 children. We can add an extra table to seat 16, but adult seating will be restricted if we add the extra table. If you need to have a larger crowd, please consider a party with The Fairy Godmother. 

      The minimum for a  party with The Fairy Godmother is $350. This covers any number of children up to 12 (including the birthday child.)  Additional children cost $25 each.  The party room is larger than most other party rooms in this area and can accommodate as many as 30 children. 
         
Why do I need to “upgrade” to turn a Fairy Picnic into a birthday party?
     Fairy Picnics are not designed to be birthday parties. There’s no room in this activity area for gifts, etc. By upgrading, you receive use of a private party room in which to store gifts until time to open them. This private room, decorated to look like a Fairytale Cottage, also has tea tables for the children to sit at while enjoying cupcakes and cookies at a fun Tea Party — and seating for grandparents or other adults!  We also provide a costumed director to run the event for you.    

Could a Princess Makeover with the Fairy Godmother be a birthday party?
       It is not designed to be a birthday party but could possibly work for a small group of up to 4 girls.       

What happened to the Barnyard theme?
     This party has been temporarily pulled from our party selection but may return.  
       
How many children will the minimum cover?
              The $300 minimum for Miss Hattie’s Tea Party covers 12 children (including the birthday child) in our party room.  Additional children cost $25 each.  
               The $350 minimum for Fairy Godmother parties covers 12 children (including the birthday child) in our party room. Additional children cost $25 each.  
       
How long will the party last?
       Fairy Picnics take around 75 minutes for 8 guests. With fewer guests, the party will take less time.
         Tea Parties with Miss Hattie last 90 minutes. 
          Parties with the Fairy Godmother last two hours. Very large parties, with 30 children, may take longer than two hours. 

 Will we open presents during the party?
        Yes, unless you absolutely refuse to consider it.  We are old-fashioned. We firmly believe that if a guest is gracious enough to bring a present to your party, it is VERY IMPORTANT for you to be gracious enough to open the present in front of that guest. The Fairy Godmother is quite persnickety about this, and says anything else is simply rude. This is true even at parties for very young children. They need to learn manners, too.  Sitting nicely while the birthday child opens gifts is an important etiquette skill to learn. We will conduct the present opening in as orderly a fashion as possible. However — if you are not swayed by our passionate argument on behalf of tradition, and do not want to open presents at the party,  we will be happy to shorten the length of your party or substitute an additional craft or activity. We will need to pass on the cost of the additional craft to you, so your party will cost more than the $350 minimum.  We will add an additional fee per guest.   
          
Are cupcakes included in every package?
        Yes, we include cupcakes and cookies in every package unless otherwise stated. 
        
What about a cake?
         We recommend that you make use of our cupcakes (included in your package) for young children, since most little children prefer the icing to the cake anyway.  A custom cake can escalate the cost of your party by as much as $40 or more  - and few children younger than 8 actually eat more than the icing. If a cake is important to you, you might consider serving a custom cake to your family on your child’s real birthday, and allow your little guests to take advantage of our cupcakes. 

Do I need to give you a deposit?
         A $100 deposit is due at booking.  This deposit is non-refundable.  It holds your party date on the booking calendar.  The remainder is due on the day of the party. 

Do you offer a discount for paying in full upon booking?
           Yes, you may save $25 on the cost of your party by paying the full amount of the minimum price of your party upon booking. This means you would pay $325 when you book, and would not owe us anything on the day of your party unless more than 12 children actually attend your party.  In that case, you would be charged $25 per child for the additional children. Payment for the additional children would be due at the close of your party.   

When will I receive my invitations?
           You may pick them up at the front desk of The Party Fairy store. We will notify you when your package is ready for pickup.  When possible, we like to email a proof of your invitation to you before printing it.  If you do not live close enough to The Party Fairy store for this arrangement to work, we will make other arrangements for you. 

Why don’t I receive invitations when I pay the deposit and book the party? We personalize Fairy Godmother invitations, and this takes extra time.  Fairy Picnic invitations and Miss Hattie’s Tea Party invitations are not personalized, and may be picked up when booking.   

How far in advance should I book my child’s party?
       We recommend eight weeks.  Weekends fill quickly, so the earlier you book, the better chance you will have of receiving a preferred date. 

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my party?
           We want your child to have this party, so we will make every attempt to schedule at another time if you experience a problem.  Sometimes, unfortunately, the birthday child or a sibling becomes ill on the party date and the party needs to be held on another day.  Please bear in mind that we will be working around other parties on our schedule, and preferred party times may be booked to capacity. We will offer you a choice of available alternate dates if at all possible.  But your $100 deposit is non-refundable even if we are unable to offer a suitable alternative date.
 
What about snow?
           If you are scheduling a winter party, please ask us to review our Snow Policy with you when booking. 
 
How can I save on the cost of a party?
                Pay your party price in full when booking to save $25. You may also wish to join Magic Mail Club. This allows us to e-mail you with notices about new parties, and special money-saving offers. There is no cost to join, and we will not sell this mailing list.

 May I videotape the party?
    Certainly!          

My child wanted a Mermaid themed party but I was told you could only offer a Princess theme on the day I need. Why?

              We use elaborate decorations. We do not have enough time in between parties to change out a set from one theme to another. If someone books a Princess theme on a particular Saturday, all other parties booked that day need to be the same theme.
